When A Person Dies In Hospital
If a person dies in Hospital, the Doctors looking after the person who has died, normally issue the Medical Certificate of Death.
The Hospital staff will advise you on collection of the certificate and recovering any belongings of the deceased that are with them in Hospital
A ‘Release Form’ may need to be signed by the Next of Kin at this point, this will release the deceased into the care of your Funeral Director.
The Hospital will need to be informed as to whether the Funeral will be a Burial or Cremation – if it is cremation, further documents will require completion before the deceased can be taken into the care of the Funeral Director.
At this point it would be advisable to liaise with the Hospital or Funeral Director regarding registration, as this could prevent unnecessary journeys back to the Hospital.
