After successfully operating for eight years, in and around the Bude, North Cornwall area, it is with great pride that we, Denise Wellington Funeral Services, has accepted Garfield Gubbin’s offer to take on his long-standing Launceston based business following his decision to retire.
Like Garfield we share the same values, both being family run businesses on the Cornwall/ Devon border with our focus being on caring for bereaved families. We pride ourselves on offering a compassionate, caring and empathetic funeral service to families during their time of need. We will look carry this philosophy on within the Launceston area following in Garfield’s footsteps, with our son Harry stepping into Garfield’s shoes and taking on the role of Funeral Director.
G F Gubbins Funeral Directors, which began in 1963 when Garfield’s late father started the business, will leave behind a meaningful long-lasting legacy for the many families they have looked after with genuine care and support over such a long period of time.
After 60 years in the business (I started very young!), it is with a heavy heart that I have decided it is time to hang up my tails and embark on a fresh adventure. I want to express my thanks to all the wonderful people I have met along the way. Your support and friendship have been invaluable and have sustained me throughout. It has truly been a privilege to have been able to help at a time of great need and I will miss it forever. Having Denise, Daryl and Harry to take up the baton, will mean that you will receive an even better service in the future. Just like myself, they are committed to caring for the people they come into contact with, and their guidance and advice will be essential for everyone. I would like to wish them every success in their new venture.
As Garfield moves into a very well-deserved retirement, we wholeheartedly wish him all the very best for the future and look forward to continuing his work.
There will be a transition period, whereby G F Gubbins Funeral Directors will operate as part of Denise Wellington Funeral Services. This will ensure continuity to the service we provide for our bereaved families. Then with Garfield’s full blessing, the long-term structure will see the business operate solely under the name Denise Wellington Funeral Services Ltd.
